I thoroughly enjoy reading stimulating and thought-provoking mysteries. However, for this summer’s reading, all book selections were chosen because they possess evocative, descriptive, lyrical, poetic, sense-tingling, and lush prose. I think I’ll wait until Autumn to settle into a couple of well written mysteries.
Unfortunately, I have a bit of bad news to share, two days ago, I was involved in a four car collision on the freeway. I am incredibly grateful that there were no major injuries; however, I am experiencing body aches and pain.
As such, I have decided to step away from blogging for the month of August. I look forward to returning in September…with a couple of fun announcements.
Wishing you a joyous and wonderful summer! Take care.
I’ve been such a good girl…I’ve completed all of my weekly chores and I plan to enjoy a leisurely weekend filled with reading Being Dead (I know such a morbid title), a visit to Crate and Barrel to purchase Emma flower vase, candle-lit dinners followed by romantic strolls along the beach, and of course, cardio at the gym.
And speaking of cardio, a recent addition to my workout playlist:
Wishing you a most splendid weekend…one that’s filled beauty, joy, and relaxation. Enjoy!
Montreal based fine art photographer Irene Suchocki has shared lovely images of Waipi’o Valley, Hawaii. Networking for Introverts is a keen, insightful, and helpful blog post written by Christina Thompson for Cupcakes and Cashmere.
I must confess, I am not a fan of hot dogs, they just seem so unhealthy. However, these Mexican-Style Chorizo Sausage Hot Dogs with chimichurri sauce and roasted jalapeño salsa, I would pay a king’s ransom for just one bite, okay, maybe two bites. Photographer unknown via Anthropologie.
This fashion editorial featuring swimsuits caught my eye. Ryan Fujiki photographed Danielle Knudson for Fashion Gone Rogue.
Wildly imaginative! Wishes is the latest stainless steel fairy sculpture designed by Robin Wight for the Trentham Estate. Wight, an engineer, software designer, and artist crafts his fairies from galvanized and stainless steel fence wire.
In Wishes, Wight created a fairy fighting to hold onto a dandelion in the wind while spreading wishes everywhere. The inspiration behind the fairy sculptures can be found here. Discovered via Colossal and Fantasywire; photographer unknown.
I’m smitten with this interior. The natural elements of wood and marble combined with a minimalist aesthetic inspires me. Katty Schie Beck Real Estate discovered via Anna Gillar.
Actor and comedian Jim Carrey delivered a humorous and inspiring commencement address to the 2014 graduating class at Maharishi University of Management. The memorable quote from his speech:
So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never dare to ask the universe for it…
My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn’t believe that was possible for him. So he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant and when I was twelve years old, he was let go from that safe job and our family had to do whatever we could to survive.
I learned many great lessons from my father. Not the least of which was that you can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.
I hope you’re in the midst of a lovely productive week filled with all the joys of summer. As I write this, I have drifted away from my wish list and all I can think about is baking a blueberry pie and pairing it lemon verbena ice cream. Mmmm…
Above are a few lovely items on my wish list. Have a terrific week!
On occasion, friends and I gather at Huckleberry Bakery and Cafe in Santa Monica for weekend brunch. I eagerly await the release of their new cookbook.
Sipping organic green tea is one of my simple pleasures. How I adore this Italian handcrafted porcelain Garden Tea Set.
The Eau Particulière Body & Home Spray by Diptyque smells like herbaceous roses with a lingering undertone of musk. I’m looking forward to using this to lightly spritz the linen closets.
I’m pleasantly astonished that drinking Rosé has now become fashionable. Recently, we celebrated our wedding anniversary with a romantic getaway to New York City. Fortuitously, we were able to secure dinner reservations at Eleven Madison Park Restaurant. We were served Champagne Chartogne Taillet ‘Le Rose’ Cuvee Rose and we were immediately seduced by creamy notes of rose, strawberry, and almond coupled by a crisp finish.
Who better than the ever chic Kate Spade to write a book on Manners, etiquette, and the art of graciousness? I’m anxious to read The Paris Journal, as I highly suspect it will be a captivating read.
I can’t imagine my crystal and glass collection without the addition of the Tino Decanter. I’m attracted to the long feminine tapered neck, curved shoulders, thick sham, and the masculine handcrafted stopper.
I celebrate my birthday this week! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll receive a floral arrangement similar to Niche Spray. I find my floral tastes are drifting from classical round arrangements to more contemporary and modern arrangements.
I’ve had the Orlebar Brown ‘Jacob’ Long Sleeve Tee bookmarked for a couple of weeks waiting for it to go on sale. As luck, would have it, during the sale they sold out. I’ve kept it on my wish list, just in case, they design the Tee in a new color for Autumn.
“I wanted the makeup to be light and fresh and more focused about the lashes while keeping the eyes clean. My hair was in an uncontrived pony-tail, one of my favorite personal looks.” Olivia Palermo
Undeniably chic, glamorous, and splendid! Carolina Herrera created Palermo’s wedding day ensemble by styling an understated cream colored cashmere sweater, white short pants, and a tulle skirt with layers of satin and silk with a high front slit and floral details along the hemline. A pair of cobalt blue Manolo Blahniks polished off the romantic look.
