Monterosso al Mare is one of the five villages in Italy’s Cinque Terre along the Italian Riviera. Waves from the Ligurian Sea gently lap against the sandy seashore. I discovered Monterosso is the only beach in the Cinque Terre that has sand.
One of the best restaurants in Monterosso is Ristorante Il Ciliegio. Il Ciliegio sits high atop a hillside, and I had to brave narrow, steep, and winding roads before being rewarded with entry into the restaurant. I feasted on butterflied and stuffed anchovies; and pansotti pasta (pictured above) with walnut cream sauce. Most delicious, I assure you. The highlight of the meal was a local dessert wine, Sciacatra (Shock ka tra), a most magical elixir…
Wishing you an amazingly beautiful day!
