Good Morning!  I hope your week is off to a fabulous start!  I just returned home from a romantic getaway.  Hubby and I spent two nights in San Francisco and two nights in Big Sur.  We had an amazing time.  Time to dash—I’m off to my Introduction to Filmmaking class, then I must prep for an upcoming fashion shoot.

As a photographer, I love to inspect and view vintage (before digital and photoshop) black and white prints.  I’m always intrigued and mesmerized by the midnight blacks, crisp whites, bright highlights, dark shadows, and the visible grains of emulsion known as graininess.

These images were photographed by Daniela Federici and can be found in her book 8½ and in A Second Decade of Guess by P. Marciano.

I have always been smitten with Richard Avedon’s fashion photography.  He had an extraordinary way of capturing elegance, glamour, exuberance, and vitality.  Suzy Parker and Robin Tattersall were photographed by Avedon at the Moulin Rouge Paris, in August 1957.  In image (1) Parker models a Grés evening gown.  In image (2) the evening gown is designed by Griffe.   Needless to say, two of my  favorite  photography books  are  Avedon’s  Woman in the Mirror and Avedon Fashion 1944-2000.

I’m happy to share that I’m off to Washington D.C. for a week, and unfortunately, no new posts until I return home.  I’m excited about my visit to the nation’s capital, as it will be my first time.

I’d  like  to  take  a moment  to wish  you  all  a  fabulous weekend;  and  a  superb  and wonderful week ahead.
